Picus 1918 Briefhoofd

Introduction

  • Trough this site, I would like to give you some information about PICUS, a former unique woodworking company in Eindhoven (a city in the south of the Netherlands). This company has - for more than 110 years - been a part of Eindhoven's industrial past. I also would like to show you some well kept pictures of this company's activities.
  • To my estimation, there will still be a reasonable amount of people - in this city and full surroundings - that have innumerable memories to this company, because they have been employed there or have had connections otherwise.
  • I also like to show you some pictures of the present continuation of the door branch of Picus - in Friesland (a northern province of the Netherlands) - under the name  "Van Vuuren Deuren".

Marius Tielen is my name ...

  • I started my career with Picus in October 1959 as an administrative employee at the maintenance department.

  • Soon I thought that techniques was of much more interesting and, after serving my country from 1962 till 1964, I continued my career in 1964 - after of course the necessary education - as a technical draftsman/designer.

  • In 1978 I became assistant chief engineer, and in 1983 I was promoted to head of the maintenance department.

  • After 44 years of employment at Picus and its successor "Van Vuuren Deuren", I retired in 2003.
If there is anybody who possesses old photographs or any other kind of documentation of the former Picus company and is willing to share them, I would be very grateful for it. A digital copy to my mailbox will do just fine.
